Create a new file

To create a new file:

1. Click the New button on the ribbon, or press CTRL+N.
2. The Choose Configuration Template dialog will be displayed. Configuration templates contain settings of Portfolio documents, such as project types, variables, project properties, the number of decimal places and so on (for more information, see Configuration settings).



3. The new file will be created and you will be automatically taken to the Load Data workspace where you can select data for loading. For more details, see Load Data workspace.

Portfolio 'PPLAN' files can be protected using encryption with a password. This is not automatically applied. You can apply the Protect function on a file at any time, and the protectiion can be removed (see Protect a file for details).

After you have loaded the data, you can:

• Edit project settings (Projects View)
• Create visualizations (Visualization pages)
• Set up targets (Targets)
• Optimize your portfolio (Optimization tools)
